If you are one of those looking for an escape from Bangkok's air pollution but cannot decide where to go or what to do, how about spending a day picking grapes in a vineyard near Khao Yai National Park and enjoying the fresh breeze of the cool season that seems to be absent from the capital city?
Throughout the month of February, GranMonte Estate invites families and other holidaymakers to visit its vineyard and winery to get first-hand experience of grape harvesting and learn about the making and tastes of award-winning wines.
On Feb 9, there will be a big annual event called Harvest Festival, held for 17 years in a row. On that special day, participants will get to join in a grape picking contest and a wine-drinking competition. Winners will be awarded cash prizes. Live music and other entertainment, as well as a party with gourmet food, will be prepared to give everybody a good time.
Tickets for the Feb 9 event are 3,900 baht for adults and 1,590 baht for those aged between five and 15. For the other days, the fees for a farm tour, inclusive of wine-tasting, are 695 baht for a single adult, 995 baht for couples aged over 20, and 895 baht for younger, non-drinking pairs. For those who wish to spend the night in the vineyard, the farm also has a charming guesthouse to offer.
