Sinnar villagers given October deadline to sell land for Nashik-Pune rail project

NASHIK: The district administration has set an October-end deadline for the residents of eight villages in Sinnar taluka to voluntarily hand over 53 hectare of land for the proposed Nashik-Pune semi-high speed rail project

District collector Gangatharan D, who toured the villages in Sinnar and met the farmers, said the property owners should benefit from the option of direct sale of land within the next five months, failing which, the administration would forcibly acquire the land.

“For all the villages where the rates of the land parcels have been announced by the administration, the farmers have five months in which they can decide to sell their land directly to the administration and benefit from the 25% additional valuation provided to them,” Gangatharan said.

He also informed the villagers about how direct selling of land was in the interest of the farmers. For the ones who choose to directly sell their land, the base value considered is 1.5 times the ready reckoner (RR) rate and final rate is five times the value of this base value. Besides, the final value of the houses, pipelines, farm ponds, plants and crops will also be 2.5 times the valuation.

In case of land being acquired by the administration, the base value of land is same as the RR rate and compensation is four times this value. The compensation for property other than land is only twice the final value arrived at.

So far, the valuation of about 78 hectare land has been announced and a five-month deadline has been set. The process of valuation of land and property for other villagers is being carried out and the administration will soon announce them.

The 235-km semi high speed railway project from Nashik district passes through Ahmednagar before entering Pune. With 24 stations the project aims at cutting the travel time by trains to less than two hours.
