Sinitta has cast further doubt on the strength of Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman’s relationship just days after Amanda Holden inadvertently suggested the romance was all over.
Last week tongues were sent wagging when 49-year-old Mandy was hosting an Instagram live chat while accompanied by her eight-year-old daughter, Hollie.
Conversation turned to Amanda’s Britain’s Got Talent boss Simon, 60, and his girlfriend of seven-years Lauren – prompting Hollie to innocently declare: “I thought they broke up?”
Amanda very swiftly replied: “Don’t be stupid,” while, some viewers noted, glared at her young daughter furiously, with the incident sparking a wave of speculation about Simon and Lauren’s romance.
Now Simon’s one-time girlfriend and long-time good friend Sinitta, 56, has shed further light on the romance – and it she has hinted the pair will never get married.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday: “You never know what is going on behind closed doors — so I won’t buy a hat for their wedding.”
Headlines have also been made about Simon and Lauren amid allegations of an extramarital affair with Spice Girl Mel B – a rumour that Sinitta has flatly rubbished.
The So Macho singer – who dated Cowell in the '80s – said: “There was no Mel B affair. I was around them when Mel was on the show and she was otherwise happy and occupied.”
She added: “They are really good friends and Lauren should not have been so worried and upset about it. She had nothing to be upset about.”
Simon and 42-year-old Lauren have a six-year-old son named Eric together – and couple have flatly denied they have broken up.
Lauren was previously married to Simon’s former close friend Andrew Silverman between 2003 and 2013.
The American businessman has retained a dignified silence despite his marriage ending upon the news that Lauren had fallen for Simon and fallen pregnant with his child.
“Being in the public spotlight is not something I envy. It’s never been my way,” Andrew said in an interview in 2014.
“Privacy has tremendous value. I’ve tried to be as quiet as possible even though everyone wants to hear about this hoopla,” he added.
