Singleton to host next regional NSW shadow cabinet meeting

NSW Labor Leader Jodi McKay has announced that Singleton will host Labor's next regional shadow cabinet meeting later this month.

It will be the second in a series of shadow cabinet meetings in regional NSW and follows a visit to Tumut last week.

Shadow Ministers received briefings on local issues and met with a range of stakeholders in the region.

Ms McKay said she was delighted to bring her shadow cabinet to the Hunter.

"My upbringing in Gloucester taught me that everyone matters," she said.

"Our rural and regional communities can't be afterthoughts.

"We can't afford to leave a single person behind.

"That's why when I became the Leader of the Labor Party I promised that Labor would be a party for regional and rural NSW.

"We need to get politicians out of the city and talking to the people living in our regions - not talking at them."

"We are working for both the city and the country.

"As a state, we move together, or we don't move at all."

Ms McKay will give her first major event speech since becoming the NSW Labor Leader at the Country Labor Conference in Singleton following the meeting.
