Singleton cricket finals to continue amid COVID-19 fears

THE RIVALRY CONTINUES: Opposing third grade captains Craig Knox (JPC) and Jason Newberry (Valley) will once again playoff in this year's finals' series.

UPDATE (11am): Singleton District Cricket Association treasurer Daniel Storey has confirmed the region's scheduled two week finals series will continue as normal following discussions with member clubs.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

From the meeting held Wednesday night, it was voted on to continue the competition with its current draw.

We advise all players, umpires and officials follow correct hygiene procedures from Health NSW Guidelines, this includes buy is not limited to;

- Refraining from shaking hands or any other form of contact between Players, Umpires & Officials.

- Refraining from polishing the ball with sweat or saliva.

- All Juniors wanting to play must have written or verbal consent from their parent/ guardian to their captain that they are permitted to play. (This is the club captains responsibility)

- ensure social distancing and any other responsible practices are adhered too.

Advice given to us this morning is that Insurance policies are still in place for any injury that is sustained through the normal play of cricket. However, anyone who is unfortunate enough to catch any form of illness from attending or being involved in a game, is generally not covered by this policy.

Should any further information come to hand, it will be passed on.

SDCA FIRST GRADE - Valley vs. Creeks

A five wicket haul for Bayden Mullholland (Creeks) inspired Creeks to victory against Valley however the two sides will now play off at Cook Park 1 this Saturday in the semi-final.

The winner will then play reigning premier PCH in the season decider.

For the second straight week JPC and Valley will now play off. The winner meets Denman on grand final day.
