A mum-of-one says she was "overwhelmed with joy" after returning from her holiday to find her parents had completely renovated her living room - for just £50.
Amy Townsend had been on a much-needed break in Benidorm with her son, Olly, when her parents decided to surprise their daughter by transforming her living room.
The single mum told money saving community LatestDeals.co.uk: "It was a total surprise. While I was away my mum and dad wallpapered and painted for me!”
And it was a much-needed transformation - with the living room long overdue a little TLC.
Amy's dad works full time, so he squeezed in the renovation work over the weekend before Amy got home to make sure the surprise was finished on time.
Her parents also managed to get the whole job done spending just £50, buying wallpaper for £5 a roll.
"It’s made me a lot happier knowing I haven't spent lots as I look for free things and I shop in charity shops for bits and bobs to add,” Amy said.
"I don’t have a lot seeing as I live alone with my two year old so charity shops have to do!
“When I saw my living room had been transformed, I was overwhelmed with joy."
And for people looking to put together their own home transformation, LatestDeals.co.uk co-founder Tom Church has some tips.
"The colour and pattern of wallpaper you choose is really important. Our eyes perceive colours and tones in ways that can change the visual dimensions of a room," Tom explained.
"Dark tones will bring walls forward, while pale tones will open up a space visually. Amy's checked pattern has both vertical and horizontal stripes which can lift the ceiling and positively alter the perception of space.
"Three quick tips for wallpapering: Paint or varnish all woodwork first. Then start your papering from the window close to a corner and work in both directions away from the light. If your wallpaper has a large regular pattern, centre the first length over the fireplace for symmetry."
