Single Liverpool death adds to Merseyside's coronavirus total

One further death of a coronavirus patient has occured in Merseyside's hospitals.

Today's update from the NHS said that there has been an additional Covid-19 death at Liverpool's main University Teaching Hospitals Trust.

This means the Trust - which includes the Royal Liverpool, Aintree and Broadgreen hospitals - has now seen a total of 467 virus deaths during the Pandemic.

There have been no further deaths at any other NHS Trusts covering our region.

The current death tolls for each Trust are as follows:

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust - 4

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust - 4

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 19

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 467 (+1)

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust - 3

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust - 149

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust - 207

The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust - 10

Across the country, the NHS England update said a further 36 people had died in hospitalsin England.

A statement said: "A further 36 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 28,940.

"Patients were aged between 53 and 98 years old. Two patients, aged 83 and 85, had no known underlying health conditions."
