A murder investigation is underway in St Helens after a man in his 30s was stabbed to death last night.
Merseyside Police confirmed they received reports just before 11pm on August 2 that a man, understood to be in his 30s, was stabbed in a property on North Road, St Helens.

A spokesperson confirmed the property was the YMCA. The victim was taken to hospital where he died.
A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder and North Road remains closed in both directions today as detectives continue to investigate.
The force also said the victim has not yet been formally identified but his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Travel monitors INRIX said North Road had been closed "due to a police incident" from Ward Street to A570 Duke Street.
INRIX add: "The road will be closed throughout the morning."

A number of shops are currently closed due to the police cordon in place. Residents are having to communicate with police around the crime scene.
A resident who lives in North Road told the ECHO that he returned to his flat in the early hours of the morning and there were "police everywhere."
They said: "It’s worrying. I’m in my 30s, like the murder victim, and friends were texting me to make sure I was all right."
A single bouquet was also placed at the cordon of the murder scene.
Flats on Hall Street in St Helens have also been cordoned off by police.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm a murder investigation is underway following the death of a man in St Helens last night, Monday 2nd August.
"We were contacted at 10.50pm following reports that a man in his 30s had been stabbed in a property on North Road.
"The man was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead."
A spokesperson confirmed the property was the YMCA.
Police said the victim has not yet been formally identified but his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Confirming the arrest the spokesperson added: "A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody where he is being questioned by detectives."

Witnesses are being urged to come forward.
Detective Inspector Jenny Beck said: "The investigation is in the very early stages. We are carrying out a number of witness and CCTV enquiries to establish what has taken place."
