Singin' in the Rain returns to London at Sadler's Wells in 2020

Grab your umbrellas and your tap shoes – Singin’ in the Rain is coming to London.

The Chichester Festival Theatre’s Olivier-nominated production will run for just five weeks at Sadler’s Wells in summer 2020.

Director Jonathan Church reunites with choreographer Andrew Wright in the story about a silent movie actor who has to adapt to a new kind of stardom when Hollywood begins making a new kind of film – talkies.

Adam Cooper will reprise his role as Don Lockwood in the musical. The actor, dancer and choreographer is best known for creating the lead in Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, a part that was also featured in 2000 film Billy Elliot.

Adapted from the 1952 movie starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds, the musical features Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed’s famous songs Make ‘em Laugh, Good Morning and Moses Supposes, as well as the title tune Singin’ in the Rain.

The original production opened in Chichester in 2011 before transferring to the West End’s Palace Theatre, where it received four Olivier nominations.

Singin’ in the Rain will run at Sadler’s Wells from July 24 to August 30 2020. Tickets go on sale on July 8, sadlerswells.com
