Singer Sinead O'Connor to auction pre-Islam clothing in aid of Bray Women's Refuge

Sinead O'Connor has announced she is to auction all of the clothes she wore before her conversion to Islam in aid of a local charity.

The Bray-based singer converted from Christianity last year, taking the name Shuhada Sadaqat, and appeared on Friday's Late Late Show wearing a traditional hijab.

She took to social media this afternoon to announce she would be selling all of her pre-Islam clothes to raise funds for Bray Women's Refuge.

She said: "This is to announce there will soon be a sale of all my pre-Islam clothing in aid of Bray Women's Refuge, who do such incredible work. Watch this space for more information."

The Nothing Compares 2 U hitmaker later confirmed to a fan that she plans to sell the clothes by way of an online auction.

The former priest also apologised for comments she made last year branding white people "disgusting".

In November 2018, she tweeted: "I'm terribly sorry. What I'm about to say is something so racist I never thought my soul could ever feel it.

"But truly I never wanna spend time with white people again (if that's what non-muslims are called). Not for one moment, for any reason. They are disgusting."

Addressing those comments this morning, the veteran singer said: "As regards to remarks I made while angry and unwell, about white people... they were not true at the time and they are not true now.

"I was triggered as a result of islamophobia dumped on me.

"I apologize for hurt caused. That was one of many crazy tweets lord knows."
