Singer Rod Stewart to get a Cork radio station dedicated entirely to him

Rod Stewart is getting his own Cork radio station dedicated to him - ‘Rod Radio’.

Ahead of his summer gig in the Rebel County, Scot Stewart will have a dedicated online radio service provided by the people behind Cork’s C103.

The station will play all of the British singer’s biggest hits until the end of May - when he plays Páirc Uí Chaoimh on May 25.

According to Radio Today Ireland, the station launched ‘Radio Rod’ on its digital platforms last Friday.

It is also reported that Rod Radio will only play songs from the best-selling music artist 24 hours a day.

The service will be available via the C103 website and also on the radio station’s smartphone Apps.

Brendan O’Driscoll, Content Controller for C103 and Cork’s 96FM commented on the new radio station, saying: “Rod kicks off a great summer of live music in Cork on May 25.

“He’s an artist who has stood the test of time and is a great fit for C103.

“So we decided it was only right to give him his own station.

“Radio Rod is part of our ongoing drive to innovate and to provide the best service for the people of Cork.”

The Baby Jane hitmaker has also recorded a number of jingles for use on the dedicated channel.
