Singer Naughty Boy breaks down on GMB as he opens up about watching mum 'fade away'

Singer-songwriter Naughty Boy choked up on Good Morning Britain as he opened up about caring for his mum, who had been suffering from dementia for the last three years.

The La La La hitmaker, 35, appeared on Good Morning Britain today to speak about looking after his mum during the pandemic.

However, the producer became visibly emotional as he spoke about his mother's deteriorating condition.

Speaking to presenters Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard, he said: "I think it's important that anyone suffering from dementia that they get some human contact.

Naughty Boy had to stop himself from speaking as he appeared physically distressed over the thought.

"It's hard," Ben interjected as Kate agreed that it was "very hard".

Dr Amir Khan also appeared on the programme and addressed the statistics surrounding those with dementia and coronavirus deaths.

Stats show that more than a quarter of those who have died from coronavirus had dementia, making it the most common per-existing condition from deaths.

Dr Amir called the results "very stark" and said that those with dementia were already at "higher risk".

"It is really, really serious and what a lot of Naughty Boy is saying really hits a nerve," he said.

Naughty Boy is supporting Alzheimer’s Society’s Memory Walk campaign and is doing his own walk in a couple of weeks in celebration of his mum.
