Bollywood singer Mika Singh has reportedly approached the Bombay High Court, seeking the quashing of the FIR filed by Rakhi Sawant for forcibly kissing her in 2006.
According to Mika, the two have amicably and conclusively resolved their differences. The actress is busy with her professional commitments. However, she has no objection to quashing of the FIR filed by her.
A division bench of Justices AS Gadkari and PD Naik was informed by Sawant’s lawyer, advocate Ayush Pasbola, that Sawant’s affidavit was misplaced by the registry of the High Court and was thus untraceable. The bench has reportedly granted Sawant a week’s time to file a fresh affidavit.
The FIR was registered on June 11, 2006, after the incident took place during Singh’s birthday party. The incident was widely reported with video footage and still photographs of the party from the time when the alleged incident took place.
Based on the complaint filed by Rakhi, Mika was reportedly booked for offences under sections 354 (molestation) and 323 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code. He approached a sessions court for anticipatory bail, which was granted on June 17, 2006.
The plea will be heard on April 17.
