Singer Kelsy Karter appears to have had fellow musician Harry Styles’ face tattooed onto her cheek.
The 24-year-old debuted the distinctive inking, which is the work of LA-based tattoo artist Romeo Lacoste, on her Instagram account last night, captioning it: “Mama, look what I made me do.”
The New Zealand-born musician’s unusual face art recreates a promotional shot taken for Styles’ self-titled 2017 album, which shows the singer with wet hair and wearing a blue velvet suit.
Karter previously hinted at the tattoo in a Twitter post shared on January 18, when she wrote: “Finally know what I’m getting Harry for his birthday.”
The singer has spoken effusively of her love for the former One Direction star in past interviews, telling i-D in 2017 that she admired him for switching musical genres after achieving international renown as part of a boy band,
“What I love about him from a professional standpoint is that he was the poppiest of pop stars, and then he went off on his own and made a classic rock album,” she told the magazine.
“For someone like me who wants to live in that world who hasn’t been in a boy band, he has opened the door for me. He’s introduced the kids to the kind of music I want to make.”
She went on to claim that she “feel[s] like [she’s] a female version” of Styles and spoke of her desire to collaborate with the star, telling i-D: “I really want to work with him. Let’s work, Harry. Where you at? Mark my words: I’m getting a song on his album.”
Karter has also reportedly written a song for Styles’ former bandmate Zayn Malik, though the track is yet to be released.
The singer’s social media followers were shocked by her apparent new look, with asking: “You do realise that’s gonna be there FOREVER?”
Others speculated that the inking could be “fake,” with one eagle-eyed commenter noting: “A real tattoo would’ve been raised where the lines are.”
“I love lots of actors and actresses but I wouldn’t get a tattoo of them on my face…” one Instagram user weighed in.
