Singer Dua Lipa on why Liverpool has 'special place' in her heart and football allegiance

Pop star Dua Lipa has revealed that she would like to be considered an 'honourary Liverpool supporter' because of the lasting legacy of her performance to 16,000 Reds fans in Shevchenko Park - plus the millions watching on television - in 2018.

The pop star was part of the pre-match show ahead of the Champions League final in Kyiv, in which Liverpool ultimately were defeated by Real Madrid.

But she has retained a place in Liverpool history since as a result of the song she sang at the time, which has been heard at Anfield plenty of times since.

"One of the highlights of the night was definitely seeing the video of all the Liverpool fans chanting along to One Kiss afterwards - I felt very honoured," the now-25-year-old said at the time.

The track One Kiss , with Calvin Harris, had been released just over a month prior to the final and went to number one in the UK charts soon after, where it remained there well into June – the longest run at top spot for a female artist in the UK this century.

Liverpool fans sung along with the track in a moment that Dua Lipa says she will always remember, adding that she was 'extremely grateful for the support'.

Now though, while appearing on a television show, the London-born singer has revealed her footballing allegiances.

"Does Dua Lipa support Liverpool?" was the question Dua Lipa was asked - one of the most popular questions on Google relating to her name.

"How do I say this in the best way possible? Can you say 'honourary Liverpool supporter'?," the singer replied.

"Only because my dad and brother support Arsenal and I think I would be getting in a lot of trouble if I said that I just support Liverpool!

"But I love Liverpool and it has always got a special place in my heart."
