Thai pop singer Waruntorn “Ink” Paonil complained to police on Monday that her face was being used for deepfake pornographic pictures and videos posted and shared online.
The 31-year-old filed her complaint with police, who said there were four online accounts involved in the case, sharing pictures alongside messages that defamed the singer.
One of them had posted material featuring Ink’s face on other people’s bodies, generated by artificial intelligence (AI), or deepfake.
Police were investigating the account and identifying the owners, and would press charges.
People who share or comment in support of such posts could also face charges, police warned.
Ink was just the latest of many Thai public figures, including singers and girl group idols, who were victims of online pornographic deepfakery made with advanced AI technology, police said.
