Singer Brian Kennedy admits himself to hospital after feeling unwell

Singer Brian Kennedy is set to undergo surgery next week after admitting himself to hospital with chest pains.

The 54-year-old checked himself into St James’s in Dublin on Thursday after feeling unwell but his management revealed yesterday it is unrelated to his previous cancer battle.

A source said last night that Brian is under observation. They told the Daily Mirror: “He’s had heart checks done and is due to have an operation next week.

“He’s currently being monitored in the coronary care unit. Brian turned up on his own and presented himself at St James’s in good spirits.”

Another source said over the last few days the Eurovision star had been feeling unwell.

They added: “He has a family history so it’s very important he gets regular checks. I’ve sent so many people over the years to get checked and they’ve ended up with stents.”

The singer has battled health issues since 2016 when he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer but he got the all clear
in 2019.

Brian’s management team released a statement yesterday saying he would spend a short time in hospital to undergo a routine operation.

They added: “This is not related to his cancer journey. He is well and very positive and sends his love and best wishes to you all and is looking forward to performing live for you all soon.”

His next gig is in Belfast on August 14.
