Singer battling cancer is latest winner of Say it with Flowers competition

A popular singer who has battled cancer for more than a year can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Christeen MacMurdie has been undergoing radiotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The confident singer, from Motherwell, used to have a regular slot at Waterloo in Glasgow, as well as playing various parties and weddings in Wishaw and across North Lanarkshire.

And her niece, Wishaw woman Fiona Craig, thought Christeen deserved a pick me up for her bravery throughout her illness, nominating her for our Say it with Flowers competition.

We delivered this stunning bouquet, courtesy of Newmains florist Pixie’s Petals, at Fiona’s home in Wishaw this week.

Fiona said: “Christeen has just had a year long battle with cancer treatment and is finally coming out the other end of it.

“She’s been trying to do some gigs in between radiotherapy which hasn’t been easy but I’m sure she’ll be back in full swing soon.

“She does karaoke, parties, shows in care homes, all sorts of things.

“She’s very popular because she’s such a nice, caring person.”

Also present at the flowers presentation was Fiona’s four-week old baby Christina, who was named after Christeen.

Christeen has also been supported through her health battle by husband of 24 years Ronnie and her son Craig, 22.

Fiona added: “I named Christina after her because I hope she is as confident and lovely as my aunt is when she grows up.”
