Singer, 96, with Alzheimer's melts hearts on Britain's Got Talent

Singer Nora Barton melted hearts when she took to the stage for a joyful performance on Britain's Got Talent.

The 96-year-old, who has Alzheimer's, is the ITV talent show's oldest ever contestant.

And she showed how it's done with a rendition of the waltz song The Loveliest Night Of The Year.

Nora sang accompanied by her daughter Pam Dimbleby on piano, who has previously spoken of her pride over her mum's achievements.

Sharing a video of Nora online singing a duet with herself on Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life she wrote: "This is mum, proving that Alzheimer's doesn't have to stop you doing things."

And viewers were moved by her performance on BGT.

"This is what it's all about... Go Nora!" cheered one viewer on Twitter.

"GO ON NORA!!! 96 years old and singing like that! What a woman," said another.

"Ohh Nora is so cute and has a lovely voice. Can’t believe she’s 96!" wrote another.

"Nora, you absolute angel," commented another fan.

"Well it's another oldie showing us !! Fair play to Nora," wrote another.

And another viewer tweeted: "Nora on #BGT is melting my heart she’s so adorable."

Nora has been singing since she was a child and fulfilled her dream of singing at the London Palladium.

And she passed her audition after impressing all four Britain's Got Talent judges.

"You are a very special lady because you're full of laughter, full of joy and you just entertain the nation," said David Walliams.

"It was completely charming," Alesha Dixon told her.

"It was a very special. You're a generation this country is built on," said Amanda Holden.

And show boss Simon Cowell said cheekily: "I don't like you very much, I love you."
