Taking the first step inside Siri House, we were struck first by the colours and energy of this new lifestyle hub in Dempsey, Singapore.
The crowd was packed and vibrant. Food, retail, art and quality living sure brought people together at Siri House's launch earlier this month for visitors to get their taste of luxury as presented by Sansiri, Thailand's luxury property developer. This place is now deemed the emblem of Sansiri lifestyle. The intimate space features a restaurant, gallery, shop and showroom of Sansiri's property.
"On Orchard Road, there's the Thai Embassy of Singapore. So, I'd say Siri House could be an embassy for Bangkok itself. A place for people in Singapore to experience what it's like if they decide to live in Bangkok -- from food and beverages, fashion, retail, design, to new artists coming in," said Ou Baholyodhin, chief creative officer at Sansiri. The property developer is now expanding itself to emphasise high-end lifestyles and a curated luxury experience in addition to constructing homes. Siri House is its first project of this kind introduced abroad.
"The market in Singapore has been growing," Ou explained for the company's decision to launch Siri House. "Singapore is quite a strategic city for us because it doesn't serve just Singaporeans, but it is also a hub for Southeast Asia, catering to people from Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines too."
Modern and welcoming, Siri House is nestled within the 280m² space in Dempsey Hill houses. Dempsey is a hip neighbourhood with lush greenery that is already a retail and lifestyle destination for many. The introduction of Siri House became an interesting addition that's sure to be a hit with both local and international crowds alike based on what it offers and guest's feedback.
Inside, visitors can find a showroom of Sansiri's property in Bangkok, The Monument Thong Lo, which is located right on Thong Lor road. The state-of-the-art residence is 45-storeys tall and designed by Quintrix, featuring apartments and penthouses. All residential units come with 180-degree city views. Its showroom was designed by Vichada Sitakalin and furnished with textiles by Jim Thompson fabrics. This showroom is set to change every six to eight months to highlight different Sansiri property developments and real estate investment opportunities.
Coming into the next room, we were greeted by a chic and cosy restaurant Jam at Siri House. The 48-seater restaurant is an eclectic mix of Asian and Western influences run by chefs Ming Tan and Jeremy Cheok. Shared plates allow diners to enjoy their time together over food, which they can chose to experience both indoor and al fresco. A seat at the bar lets diners see how their dishes are prepared inside the open kitchen. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Sunday, with weekend brunch to be introduced.
Inside the gallery, works by Thai artist Gongkan are being showcased. His "Another Dimension" exhibition features simple white sculptures reflected in mirrors to examine social boundaries and norms that dictate our lives. Gongkan is based in New York and Bangkok. He is known for his "teleport" art works, which sees people and objects appearing from holes. This is his first exhibition in Singapore, and it will be on display until the end of March.
Siri House's retail section is fun to explore and discover creative designs rooted in Thai culture, visitors can browse through the available antique cupboards with a modern edge. Items such as unique and inventive homeware, accessories, souvenirs and clothes can be found here. Currently, the set of brands include souvenirs from The Only Market, ready-to-wear clothes by Soda, homeware from Thingg, sculptures by SUR, jewellery by Mirror Mirror, art prints by The Archivist, and craft goods and ceramics by Siri House Curate. Some of the brands also present limited edition pieces exclusive for Siri House. The designs and brands are set to change around every quarter.
Guests and visitors can now visit Siri House in Dempsey. Additionally, Bangkokians will soon get their very own Siri House right on Soi Somkid this March. At both venues, the lifestyle hubs will feature curated programmings of workshops, art installations, designs and dining.
