The Singapore Film Festival 2018 is screening five award-winning Singaporean films, at SF World Cinema, 7th floor of CentralWorld, Ratchadamri Road, from today until Sunday.

Organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore to promote diplomatic relations and cultural exchange between the two countries, the festival will feature five selected movies of different genres that portray the arts, history, ethnic and cultural side of the island city-state. The line-up includes:

Ramen Teh by Eric Khoo. The drama centres on a young ramen chef who leaves his hometown in Japan after his father's death. He goes to Singapore, where he learns about his late Singaporean mother and her family and is inspired to create a new fusion dish that combines ramen and Singapore's iconic bak kut teh (pork rib soup).

Chennai 2 Singapore by Abbas Akbar. The comedy/romance tells the story of a struggling filmmaker travelling from Chennai to Singapore in the hope of finding a producer for his film but, instead, faces a series of hilarious misadventures.

667, a collection of short stories by five budding Singaporean filmmakers. Specially commissioned by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, it captures their creative reflections as they embark on a journey in search of their heritage and cultural roots and how they make Singapore their home.

My Love Sinema by Tan Ai Leng. The drama/romance tells about a young projectionist from a village who falls in love with a city girl but faces complications in their relationship due to his social class.

Diamond Dogs by Gavin Lim. This is an action/thriller about a deaf and mute man who is diagnosed with stage-three cancer and is lured into a deadly underground social experiment funded by the elites in society.

All films have both English and Thai subtitles. Two films are screened today and tomorrow at 6pm and 8pm but four on Saturday and Sunday, with the first showtime at 1.30pm. There is no admission fee, and complimentary tickets can be obtained 30 minutes before each screening on a first-come, first-served basis.
