Sing-song including 'In The Rare Old Times' blares out at Dublin chipper for 40 minutes after night out as footballers beat Cork GAA

The spirits were high in Dublin city on Saturday night after the Dublin football team got off to a flier in their opening Super 8s game against Cork.

The team who are heading for a record-breaking five in a row rattled the Rebels on a scoreline of 5-18 to 1-17.

There was cause for celebration and it's no surprise that the town was littered with people in the early hours of Sunday morning.

And by that stage, supporters were still cheering on the victory and were more than happy to join in on the chorus of a Dubliners' classic.

A tremendous version of 'In The Rare Auld Times' broke out in a chipper in Stoneybatter and Ugahay Shahar was on hand to film it all.

He told Dublin Live: "It was taken in Sorrento Takeaway in Stoneybatter in the early hours of Sunday morning. It's my local chipper.

"The sing-song went on for a good 30-40 minutes at least and included lots of Irish and Dublin songs in particular."

"I got there at around 1:30am on Sunday morning and it had just started around that time. I'd say there was around 13-15 people inside/outside while this was going on. It was great craic."

He added: "Sure, what else would you be doing at that time in the morning anyway?"
