Sindhu, Prannoy and Srikanth have it easy

PV Sindhu registered a 21-10, 21-15 victory against Wen Chi Hsu of Chinese Taipei in the second round of women's singles at the Asian Games badminton on Tuesday. Sindhu will play Putri Kusuma Wardini of Indonesia in the pre-quarterfinals. Sindhu has a 1-1 record against the Indonesian, making amends for her loss at the Swiss Open with a win in Madrid Masters.

HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth and the women's pairs of Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand and Ashwini Ponnappa-Tanisha Crasto also made the pre-quarterfinals.

After a bye in the first round, Prannoy had an easy 21-9, 21-12 victory against Batdavaa Munkhbat of Mongolia. He will face world No.85 Dmitriy Panarin of Kazakhstan next. Srikanth, who defeated world No. 122 Lee Yun Gyu of Korea 21-16, 21-11, faces second seed Kodai Naraoka of Japan on Wednesday.

The world No. 3 enjoys a 2-0 record against the world No. 21 Indian. Treesa-Gayatri downed Maldivian sisters Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq-Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq 21-14, 21-12 to set up a pre-quarterfinal clash with third-seeded Korean pair of Kim So Yeong and Kong Hee Yong. Ashwini and Tanisha downed Maisa Fathuhulla Ismail and Aishath Afnaan Rasheed of Maldives as the latter retired in the second game trailing 21-2, 12-2. The Indian girls will face Zhang Shu Xian and Zheng Yu of China next.
