Since Celtic game Hamilton Accies have shown real grit for Premiership survival fight, says Shelley Kerr

Shelley Kerr reckons Hamilton Accies have shown they have the grit and determination to stay in the Premiership after picking up a string of results since a Boxing Day defeat to Celtic.

The former Scotland Women's boss appeared on Sportscene last night to assess Accies' 1-1 draw with League Cup final winners St Johnstone and she admits she has been impressed with Brian Rice's side, despite them sitting rock bottom of the table.

Accies were on course to move up to 10th after Ross Callachan's outstanding finish put them in front, but that was cancelled out by a late Guy Melamed strike to break Hamilton hearts.

Kerr, though, reckons their recent form and the arrival of Bruce Anderson on loan from Aberdeen means they have it in them to stay up.

She said: "There are always there and we always talk about them [being down the bottom end of the table] at the start of the season, but what they've got is real grit and determination I think they've been playing well.

"Since the Celtic game, they went on a little run, they got a few points on the board and I think that Bruce Anderson has certainly given them a bit of hope.

Kerr added: "Bruce Anderson and Ross Callachan are instrumental in all of Hamilton's attacking play and they were very unlucky [not to get a second from David Moyo]."

Meanwhile, fellow pundit Michael Stewart praised Callachan's finish and reckons it could be a vital result in the grand scheme of the campaign.

He said: "It's a sensational strike and it's a typical Hamilton result to a certain extent, where you expect the cup winners to thrive on it, but they didn't.

"Hamilton Accies getting something out of the game is so crucial for them at this stage of the season."
