Simple ways to feel secure in a relationship

Love isn't enough between a couple and in order for a bond to last, a relationship needs to be built on trust, security, and respect. If any of these elements are missing, one might face issues and constant arguments. Feeling secure in a relationship takes time and space. Trust is not built overnight; it requires effort, time and patience. You can't expect to feel secure in a relationship within a week or a month. If you feel insecure and keep it bottled up, things may go downhill in the future. With time and communication, the insecurity can abate. Insecurity doesn’t always come from a third person being involved, it can stem from feelings of inadequacy, believing your partner deserves better, or dealing with your own inferiority complex.

Here are way to feel secure in your relationship

1. Open up about your insecuritiesWe all have our scars, and it can be hard to show them to others. You might think they won’t understand, that they’ll laugh, or that they won’t care, so you hide them. Don’t do that. Of course, it will take time to open up, and that's okay. Take your time, don’t rush, and share when you feel ready and believe they’ll understand. Once you open up, they’ll comfort, accept, and protect you, helping you feel safe and respected.

2. Open up about your fearsOften, people feel they don’t deserve their partner or think they aren’t good enough. This constant fear of rejection and abandonment can lead to the belief that they’ll let their partner down or can’t be the person their partner deserves. Express these fears to your partner. They will reassure you and help you feel safe and comfortable.

3. CommunicationCommunication is a crucial aspect in a relationship. The more you communicate and get to know your partner, the more secure you will feel. Understanding each other better strengthens your bond and make you indispensable in their life.

4. Talk about your insecurity regarding a third personSometimes, the presence of a third person can make things worse. It could be a friend or a family member whose opinion may be affecting your relationship. Be open with your partner about your feelings. Let them know if something is bothering you. Communicating openly about these issues can prevent misunderstandings and strengthen trust.

5. TrustTrust is the foundation of any relationship, and it should be mutual. If you or your partner have trust issues, the relationship will struggle. Building trust takes time, but once you and your partner trust each other, you’ll know that neither of you will take actions that could hurt the other.
