A lot of waste is probably produced in your house at this time of year.
From leftover Christmas food that no one will eat to the remains of present wrapping paper.
Obviously you can solve one of these problems quite simply and recycle your excess paper.
But did you know that not all Christmas wrapping is recyclable?
Luckily there's a very easy way to tell whether or not your paper can go in the green recycling bin, or if it must be put in the regular one.
And all you have to do to find out the answer is one easy little test, known as the scrunch test.

So how do you do it? Well, the clue is in the name.
Just take a piece of the wrapping paper and scrunch it into a ball in your hand.
Next, open your hand and take a look.
If the paper stays in a ball, it's likely you can recycle it. However, if it bounces back open, it can't be recycled.
There is one exception to this test though - glitter can't be recycled, so if your paper is covered in the stuff, it needs to go in the regular bin, even if it stayed in a ball.
Once you've determined whether or not it can be recycled, there are a few more steps you'll have to take before putting it in the bin.
If you can recycle it, you need to first remove all the gift tags and sticky tape from the paper.
If you're feeling particularly environmentally conscious and are not keen on chucking out all of the paper that can't be recycled, you can always flatten it out and save it for next year.
Just carefully remove the tags and tape, trying hard not to tear the paper, then it'll be good to use for presents again.
