Simple Scotland earn 'boom' verdict as wary Czech Republic boss shares his Hampden fears

Czech Republic boss Jaroslav Silhavy admits he admires the way 'simple' Scotland play direct football, ahead of the opening Euro 2020 showdown.

Steve Clarke 's side face the Czechs on Monday for the Scots' first game at a major tournament for 23 years when they meet at Hampden Park.

And Silhavy is impressed with the way Scotland don't take any chances at the back under Clarke.

The Czech Republic boss pointed out: "We are preparing very differently for all three matches.

"Take Scotland for example. They play the game simply. Their emphasis is on getting the ball forward quickly.

"They don't take any unnecessary chances at the back.
"For them, it's 'boom' - they hit that ball forward as quickly as possible where their strong players and fast players are.

"And then they go directly to goal.

"As for England - they could do anything they wanted to you.

"They have a lot of great, young players in their team. Phil Foden from Manchester City, Mason Mount from Chelsea, they are a very strong force.

"The English could field two teams of the same quality where all 22 players will be fantastic.

"They have an advantage because, in my opinion, the Premier League is the best league in the world. It's not just the players who are in the league, but the way teams play.

"They run at you and previously, England weren't like that. But under Gareth Southgate, they began to grow. He started with the Under 21s and took that talent into the A squad.

"And because we beat them at home, we won't even have the advantage of them underestimating us.

"My dream is for us both to have six points each by the time we play them in our last game."
