Simple finger test you can do that can 'reveal lung cancer'

An easy at home test you can do by putting your fingers together could show an early sign that you have lung cancer .

The test will reveal whether you potentially have finger clubbing, a particular kind of softening and swelling of the fingers and nails that can be a symptom of lung cancer - as well as some other conditions.

According to Cancer Research, more than 35 percent of people with non small cell lung cancer experience finger clubbing, reports The Mirror .

To test whether you have clubbing, you can use a simple experiment called the Schamroth window test, or window gap test.

All you do is press your thumb nails or index finger together, and see if there is a small diamond shaped window between them.

If not, it is possible you have finger clubbing - and you should speak to a doctor to find out why.

In a post on their website  Cancer Research  says: "Finger clubbing is unusual. If you have it and are worried, do speak to your doctor.

"They should send you for a chest x-ray to check your heart and lungs."

They added: "Clubbing is thought to be caused by fluid collecting in the soft tissues at the end of the fingers.

"This is caused by more blood flowing to the area than usual. But we don't fully understand why this happens.

"It may be due to the tumour producing particular chemicals or hormones."
