Simone Inzaghi profiled amid Tottenham rumours as Alan Shearer sends Harry Kane message

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Monday, May 10.

Inzaghi profiled amid Spurs rumours

Tottenham's hunt for a new manager continues, almost three weeks after Jose Mourinho was sacked by the club.

Plenty of names have been linked with the hot-seat at Spurs, including Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi.

Despite enjoying a lengthy career in football that has spanned nearly three decades, Inzaghi has never ventured outside of Italy - either as a player, or as a manager.

The Lazio coach has become a fan favourite with the Serie A club and is highly rated in Italy.

Inzaghi is one of numerous names linked with the vacant job at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with football.london recently learning that the club are hopeful of appointing a new manager before the season reaches its conclusion.

Shearer sends Kane message over his Spurs future

Alan Shearer says he would seriously consider leaving Tottenham if he was wearing Harry Kane's shoes.

Kane has been heavily linked with a move away from Spurs this summer and has previously hinted at becoming frustrated by the lack of major honours with the north London club.

Shearer has now claimed that Tottenham's recent performances against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final and versus Leeds United in the Premier League, show that Spurs are no closer to winning trophies.

"When I left Blackburn, I had a season after we won the title, and we were nowhere near winning the title," the Premier League's all-time top goal scorer said on BBC's Match of the Day.

"That sort of made my mind up, because I wanted to go on and do things.

"If Harry [Kane] wants an excuse, then Tottenham and that team are giving him one. They didn't show up for the [Carabao Cup] final, they didn't show up again today.

"If I was in his position, I would look to go elsewhere to try and win some trophies."

Bale's most recent display makes Spurs' decision easier

Gareth Bale has just over two weeks remaining of his loan contract at Tottenham and his latest performance may have made the club's decision a lot easier this summer.

Spurs have the first option to bring Bale back to the club next season on the same terms, football.london understands, but they might not want to do that.

The 31-year-old winger is reportedly being paid around £240,000-a-week and with an injury-plagued recent history, there is no guarantee that the Welshman will compete regularly for Spurs.

That extortionate sort of money is usually spent on a player who is one of the side's most dangerous players and can be relied on every single week.

There is no doubt that Bale still has the ability to threaten at the elite level, but his consistency will be dictated by his fitness and that is something Tottenham are going to have to consider.
