Simone Biles Captures 22nd World Championship Gold Medal With Balance Beam Title

Simone Biles continues to show the world how dominant she still is in gymnastics as she captured her 22nd World Championship gold medal on Sunday in Antwerp, Belgium.

The 26-year-old shined on the balance beam as she barely missed a beat. Her final score of 14.800 beat out China’s Zhou Yaqin by just 0.1 points. This was Biles’s third gold medal at the 2023 World Championships, followed behind Team USA winning the women’s gymnastics titles and Biles winning the all-around title for the sixth time.

Biles hadn’t competed in the World Championships since 2019. She didn’t compete in gymnastics during the entirety of 2022, and had only competed briefly after the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, when she battled with the “twisties.”

Biles also took home the silver in vault on Saturday.

Biles officially has 36 medals combined from the Olympics and World Championships to her name. She became the most decorated gymnast in the history of the sport on Friday after she captured the all-around title, and now she just continues to add to her resume.

The four-time Olympic gold medalist plans to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
