At SDCC 2026, some exciting new The Rings of Power season 3 news has been announced.
Along with a brand new trailer, three new cast members have been revealed.
Not only is the Balrog set to return, but it'll be voiced for the very first time, and Simon Pegg will be lending his vocal talents to the magical beast.
The Balrog lives in the Mines of Moria and claimed King Durin's life in season 2. Clearly, then, it's set to play a big role in season 3...
Also joining the cast are Eddie Marsan as Durin IV's older brother Thrain, Andrew Richardson as Elendil's son and Isildur's brother, Anarion, and Adam Young as an Orc named Marnûkh. Strangely, he's billed as "a mysterious Orc who may not be what he seems." Just what that means remains to be seen...

These newcomers join Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn and Zubin Varla as Khamûl the Easterling of Rhûn.
"This idea of longing and yearning is so pervasive in Tolkien's relationship with Edith [his wife] for the time that they were apart," Bower has shared of his character, who is Galadriel's long lost husband. "I really feasted on that idea. Celeborn has had to find a way to survive whilst longing for something that he so dearly loved and so dearly missed as well."
The Rings of Power season 3 arrives on Prime Video this November 11 with four episodes dropping at once. Then, episodes 5 and 6 arrive on November 18, and finally the remaining two episodes land on November 25.
