Simon Jordan tears into Tottenham and makes Daniel Levy comment after Newcastle shocker

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has slammed Tottenham Hotspur after their 6-1 thrashing by Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Magpies raced into a 5-0 lead inside just 21 minutes thanks to goals from Jacob Murphy (2), Joelinton and Alexander Isak (2). Callum Wilson added another in the second half after Harry Kane's reply for Spurs with Newcastle now six points clear of Sunday's opponents and in third.

Tottenham now have a mountain to climb to qualify for the Champions League next season, with six points separating them from Newcastle in third place. Manchester United are in fourth, also six points further on from Spurs but have two games-in-hand on them.

Tottenham have lost their last couple of games, shipping nine goals in the process and are on a run of one win from their last five games. "Some of these players should be ashamed of themselves," Jordan said on social media platform Twitter.

"Yes I know this is all Daniel Levy’s fault...fair play to NUFC, very decent side." Both of Spurs' wins since beating Chelsea 2-0 on February 26 have come at home, the first a 3-1 defeat of relegation candidates Nottingham Forest and the second an incident-packed victory against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Magpies got their rout of Spurs up and running thanks to a goal from Jacob Murphy, who turned home a rebound after Hugo Lloris saved a shot. He hailed a big win for his side and gave his verdict on a fine afternoon on Tyneside for the hosts.

"We started so well," Murphy said on Sky Sports after the game. "I wasn't surprised (to score my second goal), I was just happy to see it go in.

"I always want to add value, whether it is starting or coming off the bench to make an impact. Everyone does it in the squad."
