Simon Jordan says some Newcastle United fans are 'mouthy little cowards' after Steve Bruce interview

Simon Jordan has labelled Newcastle United fans who criticised talkSPORT's interview with Steve Bruce 'mouthy little cowards.'

Newcastle head coach Bruce appeared on the radio station on Monday and was interviewed by Jordan and co-host Jim White about this season in charge of the club - and angered fans by claiming it was 'difficult to manage the expectation' on Tyneside.

Fans took to social media to voice their concerns - some feeling Bruce was given an easy time by Jordan and White but the former Palace owner hit back.

"What we tried to do yesterday [with Steve Bruce] and what I like to do is be objective and make people work hard in an interview.

"I'm not just going to give it to someone and let them have an advertorial - we didn't let Brucey have an advertorial yesterday.

"Just because I like Steve Bruce, and I call him Brucey and he's someone I've known for twenty years...when he walked out of my football club 20 years ago, I served him with an injunction and put him on his knees with the greatest respect.

"Over the years we've rebuilt a relationship with each other and I think he is a decent manager, I think Newcastle is a difficult job to manage and I think some of these fans are just mouthy little cowards.

"I think Steve has made lots of mistakes in his career. Some of the judgement calls, some of the relationships he's had with clubs haven't always been the greatest - and that includes Newcastle but we asked him that.

"Short of turning around and saying 'you're F'ing useless, I'm not sure what more we could have done in that interview.

"There's a segment of the Newcastle fan base - I just get fed up with it.

"Hold people to account but piling on the abuse is just mindless."
