Simon Jordan's one-word response which has enraged Newcastle United fans

Simon Jordan's one-word respone to a question from a Newcastle United supporter has prompted a furious reaction from the Magpies fanbase.

The former Crystal Palace owner has regularly defended Steve Bruce in recent months while criticising the Toon Army for their expectations this season.

Jordan labelled United supporters' demands of their team as 'unrealistic', despite a horrendous run of form which has seen Bruce's side plummet into a relegation battle.

It was an argument a Magpies fan reminded the talkSPORT host after the 53-year-old claimed Palace should show more ambition and aim for more than just avoiding relegation.

Jordan told talkSPORT: “Roy [Hodgson] has a point, but don’t ignore the fact that irrespective of big transfer fees last summer, Palace have a squad of players that should be operating at a level that should be away from relegation.”

The post inevitably drew a reponse from Newcastle fans who believed Jordan was guilty of the same 'unrealistic' ambitions he had castigated them for.

The talkSPORT host then fanned the flames further in response to a message asking why Magpies fans 'have to be happy' while Palace fans are 'allowed to want more'.

One Newcastle fan replied: "Palace’s squad isn't even as good as ours? Theres one or two players that's it."

Another supporter posted: "Literally only [Eberechi] Eze and [Wilfried] Zaha would be getting straight into our starting 11 when all players are fit."

A third fan commented: "The prejudice towards Newcastle & it’s football club by the so called “pundits” on talkSPORT in particular is quite shocking to be honest.

"I’m starting to think that they are hired to provoke & be as controversial as possible."
