Jordan, a vocal critic of the decision makers who run Scottish football in the past, has tipped his hat in the wake of Wednesday's vote.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "Smart move, if your government is going to ridiculously overreact.
"If you are going to give the Scottish Premiership and all the Scottish authorities pelters like we do most of the time, their incompetence.
"You've got to give them a bit of credit when they go 'ok, let's think our way through this problem, we've got a midseason break, let's bring it forward', and protect and preserve the sanctity of big games, like Celtic vs Rangers and other games."
