Simon Harris urges caution as coronavirus clusters growing in one area

Minister Simon Harris is urging people to seek a doctor if they have coronavirus symptoms with cases growing in people's homes.

The Health Minister said that people cannot dwell if they have symptoms and need to see a doctor quickly.

Ireland had just nine new cases on Monday as the virus continues to weaken in the country.

Minister Harris said: "We have seen an increase in clusters of Covid-19 in people’s homes.

"There is concern that when people have symptoms they may be waiting a few days before contacting a GP.

"Please do not do this. If you have any symptoms, immediately self isolate, do not put it off and phone your GP."

The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 here, as of midnight on Sunday, June 7, is 25,207.

The death toll is now 1,683.

Dr. Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said; “It has been 100 days since we reported our first case of COVID-19. Since then, it has been the collective effort of our health service and general public that has limited the spread of the virus.

"As we enter Phase 2, it is vital to keep up a compliance with public health advice.”
