Simon Gregson's wife desperate to see him in I'm A Celeb trial as he keeps 'Lord' status

Simon Gregson's wife says she will be voting him to do all the trials on I'm A Celebrity.

The Coronation Street star - who plays Steve McDonald on the ITV soap - entered the castle a few days ago, not long before the show was taken off air for a few days due to the poor weather conditions in north Wales.

So far, he has been given lord privileges, which means he isn't eligible to do any trials - but his wife Emma has vowed to vote him to take on as many as possible as soon as she can.

She appeared on ITV's Lorraine to discuss Simon's time in the castle so far and she was hopeful he would get to do another trial soon.

When asked if she will be voting for him to take part the trials, she said: "Absolutely, yeah! That’s the reason he’s in there."

Emma also discussed his time in the camp - and she says he's taking to it better than she thought he would.

"When I saw him first on screen the other day, I actually did think he looked more relaxed than I thought he would do," she added.

However, it has been difficult for her and the family to be apart from the soap star.

Emma chatted with Lorraine (ITV)

She added: "We never really spend time apart to be honest, or we at least speak to each other. It’s a running joke with my friends, that if my phone rings it’s always Simon on the end of it because he rings me constantly all day every day.

"So for him to be taken from the outside world, it has been a little bit strange – I like it a little bit, I’m not going to lie. But we are missing him a lot."

It comes after Simon opened up about his Coronation Street fame - and how much he hated it.

"It was difficult for a while to adjust. This isn’t what I planned for myself and I do not like it. I hated it. The fame side of it I hated it. I still don’t," he told his fellow campmates as they discussed their careers.

Chatting later on in the In the Telegraph, Simon added: "If things had been different I could have been driving tanks or racing cars."
