Simon Cowell vows to convince One Direction members to reunite again

An “amazing” One Direction reunion is on the cards, Simon Cowell believes.

The music mogul, who created the group on TV’s X Factor 11 years ago, is convinced he can persuade the five to reform – as soon as he can get them all in a room together.

He said: “I think it will happen. If they got together, whether it’s making records again or touring, it would be the most amazing thing.”

The group announced in 2015 they were taking “a hiatus”, months after Zayn Malik quit at the beginning of their world tour.

The remaining lads – Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan – continued the tour and recorded fifth album Made in the A.M. before their indefinite break.

Asked which band member is holding out on the reunion Cowell, 61, said: “I don’t know, to be honest. If I could get into a room with them and just say, ‘You know what, whether it’s six months or something, I think you’d have such a great time’ – maybe I could persuade them.

“But I think they should do it, definitely. I would love it to happen. And the fans, of course, would love it.”

All five now have solo careers, with nine solo albums between them and 13 Top10 singles.

They are said to have a combined net worth of £280million.
