He is famed for wearing high waisted trousers – but Simon Cowell switched up his style in low-riding beach shorts while on holiday in Barbados.
The music mogul was pictured in patterned blue shorts which revealed the scar from his back operation for the first time.
The 61-year-old was forced to undergo six hours of surgery in August 2020 after he broke his back in three places following a horror fall from an electric bike.
At the time doctors said he narrowly avoided being paralysed as the breaks missed his spinal cord by just a centimetre.
Simon has been recovering during lockdown – and looked to be the picture of health as he vacationed with partner Lauren Silverman and their seven-year-old son, Eric.
The family of three were spotted having fun on the beach – with Simon even trying out a jet ski as he played alongside Eric in the water.
In a sign he feels better than ever – despite fears it would take him months to recover – the Britain’s Got Talent judge looked happy and healthy as he enjoyed some well-deserved time off.
After vowing to get healthy following his accident, Simon also showed off his new trimmer figure after recently losing four stone.
Simon looked in great shape alongside partner Lauren, 43, who oozed class in a white lemon print bikini, white kaftan and straw hat which matched her designer Fendi straw beach bag.
The family were spotted enjoying a leisurely stroll, before Lauren and little Eric went off on a boat ride together.
Lauren and Eric looked on in horror as Simon had his accident at their LA home last year.
He was trying out a powerful new electric bike when he fell backwards after accidentally pulling a wheelie and landing on a concrete floor.
Simon was rushed to Providence Saint John’s hospital in Santa Monica where doctors said he had broken his back in three places.
Medics had to insert a metal rod in his spine during major surgery which lasted six hours.
Following the operation, Simon broke his silence on Twitter to tell his 11 million followers: “Some good advice.
"If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time.
“I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.”
The X Factor boss has since said he “couldn’t have got through it” without the help of New York socialite partner Lauren and son Eric, who adorably gave his dad the nickname ‘Iron Man’ after his op.
Simon shocked fans when he revealed he was to become a dad at the age of 53 in 2013.
At the time he said: “I’m proud to be a dad. It’s something I hadn’t thought of before, but now I feel good about it.”
But Simon – who is now in his sixties – has ruled out having any more kids due to his age.
