Simon Cowell storms off the stage after being forced to dance on Britain's Got Talent

Britain's Got Talent boss Simon Cowell stormed off the stage during the live semi-finals after a ventriloquist tried to get him to dance.

Jimmy Tamley tried to move an unimpressed-looking Simon's seat from underneath him in an attempt to make him join fellow judge David Walliams in performing the can-can.

And when he realised that Simon wasn't budging he went to grab his leg before Simon decided enough was enough and walked off, removing his half-face puppet mask.

The telly judge left the stage to a chorus of boos, but he later returned as Jimmy finished his performance, which also saw him urge the judges to 'snuggle'.

"I've never had anyone walk off before that's a new one," said Jimmy, who put masks on the judges as he controlled the mouths and pretended to voice David and Simon.

"Overall I think it's a really good idea and you did well," said Alesha Dixon.

Amanda said it reminded her of "when the boss is forced at the Christmas party to get up and do some dancing."

But Simon was in no mood to dish out compliments, saying wryly: "When the credits roll up later on, you're gonna see the names of the people who produce this show.

"When you read about them being murdered in two days time, I'm going to admit I'm the person, and you know who you are ..."

"This will be all Simon Cowell is ever remembered for," chuckled David.

Some viewers watching at home agreed with Simon's decision to walk off.

"I actually feel sorry for Simon. That was very uncomfortable to watch," said one.

"Totally get why Simon Cowell walked off stage during @BGT," said another.

"I’d have done exactly that .... actually you wouldn’t have got me up there in the first place! You need the right people in place for that kind of act."

But others disagreed.

"Simon Cowell is hands down the biggest mard a*** going! Walking off the stage live on TV halfway through someone's act very disrespectful," said one.

"Can’t believe Simon just walked off," said another.

Jimmy appeared on ITV talent show New Faces back in 1987 alongside comedian Joe Pasquale and he won the show with Joe coming in second place.
