Simon Cowell ‘splurges £30,000 on epic Greatest Showman themed birthday party for son Eric’

Simon Cowell reportedly splashed out £30,000 on a Greatest Showman-themed birthday party for his son Eric.

The X Factor boss celebrated his son’s fifth birthday over the weekend and is believed to have held the lavish party at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Saturday night.

A source told the publication: “Simon spared no expense in making sure it was the perfect occasion for little Eric. The kids got to sing their favourite songs from the film and the whole place was decked out just like the circus.

“Everyone was joking that Simon was like Hugh Jackman’s character because he was the ringmaster. Loads of celebrities were invited with their families and Eric’s own friends came, too.”

Giving some further details, he said he intends to introduce a celebrity version of The X Factor along with an all-star edition with former contestants.

He also told of how he hopes to create a second series of Britain's Got Talent with past winners of the show competing against each other, alongside the main series which is currently in production.

Cowell told The Sun: "I've had a meeting with ITV, I've told them what I think we'd like to do with X Factor because we've been waiting to have this opportunity. The time feels right, and it will be a huge change.

"We haven't exactly confirmed the dates or the order of the shows, but essentially there are going to be two versions of X Factor running this year."
