Simon Cowell death hoax leaves best friend Sinitta devastated and furious

Sinitta has been left horrified by a cruel hoax that claimed her best pal Simon Cowell had died.

The angry 80s star, who used to date the music mogul, was left seething at the wicked prank.

The 59-year-old was given the fright of her life when she was bombarded with messages saying the music mogul, 63, had passed away.

Simon and Sinitta were linked from 1983 onwards and spent 30 years in an on-again off-again romance.

But she was left shaken after first hearing the vile nonsense speculation that the star had passed away.

Celebs Go Dating's Sinitta says her friend is very much "alive and well" as fans rushed to tell her how unkind the prank was.

She wrote: "There is a terrible prank that Simon Cowell has died.

"It freaked me out last night when people started messaging me!

"Simon is NOT dead People. Very much Alive and Well...thank God I have a great sense if humour but you really scared me."

One of her followers told her: "Sadly people start these rumours to cause anguish and upset, and it spirals. Last week it was Davina McCall. Just horrible."

Last year, Sinitta confessed that she had hoped for a future with the X Factor legend.

While she soon moved past her dreams of a relationship with the mega rich TV star due to his blossoming romance with wife-to-be Lauren Silverman, she thought they'd end up together.

Speaking to Daily Mail, she said she thought the pair had an understanding and envisioned a future with Simon 10 years ago - just before he started dating Lauren in 2013.

She told the publication: "It was about 10 years ago and yeah, I was still wanting to be with him then, yes," before adding that she felt the romance was "on and off".

Sinitta added that she thought there was an unspoken understanding, which she has now called a "misunderstanding on my part".

She went on: "Obviously it wasn't my happiest moment because I wanted to be with him, but I got over it and we've all lived happily… well we've all lived to tell the tale."
