Simon Cowell 'blames' Britain's Got Talent audience as he snubs act in live semi final

Simon Cowell felt the very vocal wrath of the Britain's Got Talent audience on Wednesday night as he tried to 'blame' them for him buzzing during comedian Marcus Birdman's performance.

Having appeared as a guest on Lorraine earlier on in the day to talk about his BGT experience so far and to tease what he had planned, Marcus stepped onto the stage of the Hammersmith Apollo as one of the acts in the third semi final of the week. However, things didn't go to plan when Simon made is disapproval abundantly clear by pressing his button to light up a red cross.

Marcus, who seemed slightly nervous during his routine, continued on with his jokes, cracking gags about everything from the under 30s, to his daughter starring in a stage production of Oliver and even made one about having a stroke a few years ago.

None of the other Britain's Got Talent judges hit their buzzer to try and end Marcus' performance and it was Simon who Ant and Dec went to first for his comments as the audience booed him. Being very matter of fact, Simon responded: "Why are you booing me? You aren't laughing!"

He then told Marcus: "When we sit here, honestly, I gauge the reaction most of the time from what we hear behind us; whether you're a singer, a dancer, a comedian and yeah, if you're a comedian, how loud is the audience laughing?

"Compared to the comedian we had on last night, not enough. So, for that reason, I buzzed you," with the audience then booing Simon even more as Bruno Tonioli praised Marcus for not being 'afraid to go there,' adding: "Your observations are really on the edge, they're really, really funny."
