Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman spotted with 'oxygen tank' on date night

Simon Cowell and his girlfriend Lauren Silverman had what appeared to be an oxygen tank close by them at all times as they enjoyed a romantic date night in London.

The renowned X Factor and Britain's Got Talent judge was pictured sitting in the back of a luxury car with his partner after they had indulged in a meal with Northern & Shell founder Richard Desmond at Harry's Bar.

61-year-old Simon wore his signature white shirt and classic suit combo whist 43-year-old Lauren donned a patterned dress, according to The Mirror.

The brunette also made sure to wrap up in the cold, sporting a black cardigan over her dress.

The cheery couple were pictured sat in the car with a posh leather and wood arm rest between them, which had the mysterious item sitting on top of it.

Alongside what appears to be a green box of cigarettes for smoker Simon, sat a plastic cylindrical contraption with a tube sticking out of it.

The tube appeared to have a mouth piece attached to the end of it, suggesting it could be some sort of portable breathing device.

X Factor and Britain's Got Talent boss Simon is said to have been enjoying a plush staycation with his family in Oxfordshire.

Simon, Lauren and Eric have been spending some quality time together at fancy members-only retreat Soho Farmhouse, Daily Star reports.

Simon, who is continuing to recover from his spinal surgery after falling off his bike last year, Simon has been back in the UK while preparing for the launch of his new series of America's Got Talent.

A source told the publication: "Simon is back living in London and with America's Got Talent kicking off on Tuesday the bank holiday weekend was the perfect time to get away.

"He was seen enjoying some down time in the sun with Lauren and Eric and Soho Farmhouse.

"People obviously recognised him but no one bothered him. It's the perfect home away from home and allows celebs to unwind away from the cameras."

Simon had to have a six-hour operation last year when he fell from his new electric bike while testing it at his home in Malibu.

It was said at the time at he missed snapping his spinal cord "by a centimetre", meaning he narrowly avoided being paralysed.

A source told The Mirror at the time: "I spoke to him before the surgery and he was in incredible, ridiculous amounts of pain and also in shock.

"His back was broke in several places, but he is actually very lucky.

"He fell flat on his back and the doctors say the impact missed his spinal cord by about a centimetre and it could have been a lot, lot more serious.

"He was in surgery for six hours and they had to put a metal rod in his back and fix a number of things."

And his rep said: "Simon has broken his back in a number of places in a fall from his bike whilst testing a new electric bike in the courtyard of his home in Malibu with his family.

"He was taken to hospital where they operated overnight, he's under observation and is doing fine."
