Simon Cowell and girlfriend Lauren take son Eric on plush staycation at Soho Farmhouse

Simon Cowell enjoyed a plush staycation in the Bank Holiday sunshine with his family last weekend, it's claimed.

The music mogul, 61, reportedly joined his partner Lauren Silverman as they took their young son Eric, seven, for some quality family time at Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire, a plush members-only retreat.

He looked relaxed and dressed down in a t-shirt and shorts as he enjoyed the break, as temperatures soared across the country, the Daily Star reports.

Simon, who is recovering from spinal surgery after breaking his back last year, is now back in London, preparing for the launch of America's Got Talent.

A source told the publication: "Simon is back living in London and with America's Got Talent kicking off on Tuesday the bank holiday weekend was the perfect time to get away.

"He was seen enjoying some down time in the sun with Lauren and Eric and Soho Farmhouse.

"People obviously recognised him but no one bothered him. It's the perfect home away from home and allows celebs to unwind away from the cameras."

Simon appears to be doing well after his accident last summer.

He suffered a serious fall from a new electric bike he was testing at his house in Malibu, and had to undergo six hours of surgery.

He narrowly avoided being paralysed as he missed snapping his spinal cord "by a centimetre".

A source told The Mirror at the time: "I spoke to him before the surgery and he was in incredible, ridiculous amounts of pain and also in shock.

"His back was broke in several places, but he is actually very lucky.

"He fell flat on his back and the doctors say the impact missed his spinal cord by about a centimetre and it could have been a lot, lot more serious.

"He was in surgery for six hours and they had to put a metal rod in his back and fix a number of things."

His rep said at the time: "Simon has broken his back in a number of places in a fall from his bike whilst testing a new electric bike in the courtyard of his home in Malibu with his family.

"He was taken to hospital where they operated overnight, he's under observation and is doing fine."

Simon broke his silence on the accident back in February on US TV show Extra.

He said: "It could have been a lot worse. When I saw the X-ray, I really nearly could have smashed my spine to pieces, so I literally wouldn't have been able to walk.

"I knew I'd broken my back the minute I landed. It was really, really kind of sudden and it hurt."
