Simon Calder’s ‘Ask me Anything’: The Independent’s travel expert answers your questions

Alamy

The Balearic Islands of Spain were kicked to the amber list on Wednesday, in the latest reshuffle of the government’s traffic light lists for travel – a day earlier than planned.

The move will prompt a stampede of holidaymakers back to the UK from the popular holiday islands to beat the quarantine deadline; we’ve already seen soaring air fares as travellers scramble home before Monday.

There is good news on the horizon, though. From 19 July (the same date that the Balearics join the amber list again), fully vaccinated Britons and under 18s won’t be required to quarantine when returning from amber countries, which will open up a swathe of Europe for holidays.

On Thursday 15 July at 4pm I’ll be on hand to answer your travel questions about the latest rule changes.

Register to submit your question in the Comments below. If you’re not already a member, click “sign up” in the Comments box to leave your question.

Don’t worry if you can’t see your question – they will be hidden until I join the conversation to answer them.

Then join us live on this page at 4pm today as I tackle as many questions as I can within an hour.
