SIMEC Atlantis launches consultation on power station conversion

Edinburgh-based energy developer SIMEC Atlantis Energy Limited has opened a 28-day pre-application consultation for its power station conversion project in Wales.

It plans to turn Uskmouth Power Station from a coal-fired facility into one that generates electricity by burning pellets of non-recyclable waste. The consultation over the plant in Newport will run from 1-29 June 2020 and will allow interested parties to view documents including the planning application and environmental statement. The PAC report will be submitted alongside the full planning application to Newport City Council.

SIMEC Atlantis is also behind the Meygen tidal power project in the Pentland Firth, the largest consented tidal stream array in Europe.
