Sim grabs two-shot lead in NSW Open

Former US tour player Michael Sim has sent a reminder of his talent, storming to the lead in the NSW Open at Concord in Sydney.

The 36-year-old West Australian carded a blemish-free eight-under 61 second round to get to 13 under and lead by two shots from Sydney's Dale Williamson (65).

Former amateur world No.1 Sim is chasing a third Australasian tour title and also boasts four wins on the secondary US tour, where he played between injury-marred stints on the US PGA Tour.

"I had it going early, five-under through eight," said Sim.

"I was saying to the boys after the practice round that I like the golf course. I like playing tree-lined golf.

"It's just been two great days, without a bogey. I don't think I've ever done that before."

If Sim adds the NSW Open to his Qld PGA (2020) and WA Open (2019), it will have been more than eight years since a New South Welshman last lifted the Kel Nagle Cup. The last to do so was Aron Price who triumphed in 2013.

The closest challenge is coming from Williamson who shot 65 while fellow New South Welshman Justin Warren and Victoria's Andrew Martin (67) are both a shot further back.
