Silverburn insist safety of customers and staff is 'top priority' after sexual assault inside store

Silverburn shopping centre has insisted the safety of customers and staff is their 'top priority' after a sexual assault within one of the stores yesterday.

Police have launched a probe following an attack at the busy Glasgow outlet around 11.25am on Thursday morning.

Enquiries into the incident, which took place while Christmas shoppers were out in force, remain ongoing.

In a statement a spokesperson for Silverburn confirmed the incident was being investigated and said they were supporting the authorities.

A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an incident occurred at Silverburn yesterday.

"Police attended and this is now a matter for the authorities and we are supporting them with their enquiries.

"The safety and security of our customers and colleagues is always our top priority.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Officers received a report of a sexual assault within a store at Silverburn shopping centre on Barrhead Road, Glasgow around 11.25am on Thursday 16 December 2021.

“Enquiries are ongoing."
