Silo season 3: Everything we know about the upcoming return of the hit Apple TV Plus sci-fi show

Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette in Silo season 2.

Silo season 3 has wrapped up filming, which means we're inching closer to finding out what happened after that dramatic Silo season 2 ending.

Although there isn't a lot of official information out there about Silo season 3 just yet, we've dived deep into everything available to us, including quotes from showunner Graham Yost, to feed the rabid fanbase of one of the best shows on Apple TV Plus before it returns to our screen. There's also cast speculation and confirmation on whether the third season is the final farewell to Juliette and company. Spoiler: There's more to come.

So, without further ado, scroll on for our guide to Silo season 3, one of the new TV shows we're most excited for.

Silo season 3 release date speculation

There is currently no Silo season 3 release date, but we know that it's definitely on its way. We also have enough information to get our tinfoil hats on and start theorizing.

With filming now complete as of June 2025, that means we'll likely see the third chapter air in 2026 if it follows the same timings as season 2.

However, seasons 3 and 4 are being filmed back-to-back, which will extend the shoot and perhaps lead to a later release date. The bright side to that, though, is that it might lead to an earlier Silo season 4 release date.

Silo season 3 plot speculation *SPOILERS*

Although no official plot details have been revealed yet for Silo season 3, we can put together a pretty good idea of where it will be heading based on the finale of the second installment.

For instance, in the final moments, Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) returns to her home silo after finding a way back from the other one with help from Solo/Jimmy (Steve Zahn). However, at the entrance, she is confronted by a frustrated Holland (Tim Robbins) who, quite frankly, has had enough. The two have a tense confrontation before getting stuck in the airlock together, which sets on fire.

And that's where we left the pair, so presumably Silo season 3 will pick up in the immediate aftermath. Given that they are both major characters, it is likely that the pair survive, with the third chapter looking at the consequences of what they have learned about the safeguard procedure (basically a pipe that can pump poison into the silo, killing everyone).

Juliette did tease that she "figured something out," so we are sure all will become clear. We can also likely expect plenty of fallout following the rebellion, people learning what happened to Juliette, and confirmation that the outside is indeed unsafe.

However, viewers can also expect a twist in the tale after that intriguing final scene. In a flashback, we met an unnamed man (Ashley Zuckerman) and a journalist, Helen (Jessica Henwick), as they discussed a radioactive "dirty bomb" attack on the US from Iran.

Yost recently confirmed that Zuckerman is playing Daniel (although his book counterpart is named Donald), a young congressman who unwittingly becomes the designer of the silos. Zuckerman and Henwick will be series regulars in Silo season 3, so part of the upcoming chapter will be set in the past as we finally unravel the mysteries surrounding who built the silos and why.

Silo season 3 cast speculation

Given what happened in the Silo season 2 finale, we can expect some changes with the seaosn 3 cast. Firstly, Iain Glen's Dr. Pete Nichols sacrificed himself, so he won't be returning (unless there are flashbacks, of course). But, more importantly, the very last scene of the second season took us back in time, where we met two new characters: young politician Daniel (Ashley Zuckerman) and a journalist named Helen (Jessica Henwick).

Shortly after the season 2 finale aired, it was confirmed that both Zuckerman and Henwick would be reprising their roles in the third season as series regulars. They will play crucial parts in Silo season 3, which will partly depict the origins of the silos and means a new cast of characters will also come into the fold.

Otherwise, Apple TV Plus hasn't confirmed any new or returning cast members just yet, aside from Rebecca Ferguson's Juliette.

However, based on our speculation, we think the cast list will look something like this:

  • Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette
  • Steve Zahn as Solo/Jimmy
  • Tim Robbins as Bernard Holland
  • Common as Robert Sims
  • Alexandria Riley as Camille Sims
  • Harriet Walter as Martha Walker
  • Claire Perkins as Carla
  • Chinaza Uche as Paul Billings
  • Rick Gomez as Patrick Kennedy
  • Shane McRae as Knox
  • Remmie Miller as Shirley
  • Avi Nash as Lukas Kyle
  • Jessica Henwick as Helen
  • Ashley Zuckerman as Daniel

Is there a Silo season 3 trailer?

A trailer for Silo season 3 hasn't been released yet, but given that filming has only recently wrapped, that's hardly a surprise. Plus, the trailer for season 2 dropped only a month before that installment hit our screens, so we'll probably have to wait until much closer to the release date for a teaser.

Is Silo season 3 the final season?

Silo season 3 isn't the end of the road: the show has already been renewed for season 4. However, as announced back in December 2024, Silo season 4 is set to be the last installment in the series.

In a press release, it was revealed that these last two seasons will complete the story told by Howey's trilogy of novels, with Yost promising that it will satisfy viewers who are longing for answers to "many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos."
